In the spirit of the holiday season many people think about giving back.
What better way for an exotic animal lover to give back than to support a local animal sanctuary, shelter, or humane society. The Ferret Inn, located in Columbia, MD is such a Shelter.
A little back ground info: The Ferret Inn is a residential ferret shelter that is non-profit and specializes in ferret rescue, placement, and, boarding. (Above: Nico enjoys a cradled timeout from exuberant play)
To see more information about this shelter view my past article The Ferret Inn to learn about the amazing work being done here.
For this Holiday Season 2009-2010 the Ferret Inn has the annual 2009 Ferret Giving Tree.
The Ferret Giving Tree 2009 gives you the opportunity to become a virtual "Santa" to those wonderful, but often under appreciated animals. By clicking on the above link you can choose to sponsor a ferret or to make a donation in the form of food, vet bills, necessities for the ferrets, volunteering, or other specific supplies mentioned in each ferrets information.
Read about Cookie, whose owners no longer wanted her. Or choose to sponsor Douglass and Baltimore who were saved from becoming "snake food".
Check out the Ferret Giving Tree and read stories about sweet ferrets looking for a Santa this Holiday Season.
NOTE: This shelter can no longer accept additional surrenders.
Contact information is as follows: The Ferret Inn Blog, please visit the website for additional information on volunteering and for donations.
